The Canadian Opera Company ("COC") is looking for a
-
Costume Coordinator covering a contract period from
-
March

13 to June 11, 2023, with the potential to extend to the end of June.
The Costume Coordinator will be part of our Production department, initially as support for our two full-time
- coordinators in mounting our spring season. By mid
  • April this contract position will move on to coordinate
  • Treemonisha_, being produced by Volcano in association with the Canadian Opera Company. This position reports to
- the Head of Costumes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Learn the requirements and design of the spring productions. Support the Costume Coordinators with notes and
- buying

  • For _Treemonisha_:
learn the requirements of the existing production. Assess for fit with the current cast. Reporting

to the COC Head of Costumes, create and execute a plan to fit, alter and complete the costumes using a team in
the COC workroom.

  • Source and acquire all additional materials, accessories, or costume pieces required, staying within budget and
arranging for timely delivery of same.

  • Create and maintain records, including a Costume Bible, running information and paperwork required for the
production to tour.

  • Attend and run all fittings, monitor and collect alterations from the workroom.
  • Prepare the production to be sent to the Bluma Appel Theatre.
  • Attend technical rehearsals, coordinate the completion of notes that arise.
  • Follow all Health and Safety practices.

KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • Postsecondary diploma in theatre and/or fashion
  • Knowledge of garment construction, sewing, and alterations
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Theatre experience
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Willingness and availability to work evenings and weekends as required
