The Retirement Residence is located within St. Elizabeth Village, we offer affordable independent and assisted living. With beautiful views of the natural landscape, our spacious private and shared rooms are bright, comfortable and secure.

*Summary*Our company needs a full-time Clinical Manager. The Clinical Manager is an important part of the leadership team for the Retirement Residence and will be responsible for planning, and supervising health care programs and services for residents, ensuring compliance with all Federal and Provincial regulations and following the standards as set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario. The Clinical Manager is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of resident care activities in compliance with applicable legislation and the maintenance of an atmosphere conducive to achieving the optimal health and welfare of the residents and employees.

*Responsibilities*- Accountable for the highest standard of resident care and quality of life being provided for the residents through the development and maintenance of appropriate care plans,

  • Effective supervision of the performance of nursing staff, provision of the required equipment and supplies and appropriate staffing pattern, nursing services, policies and procedures
  • Coordinate the hiring, orientation, continuing education, supervision, regular performance evaluation and if necessary, termination of care staff. Review and approve relevant position descriptions
  • Assume responsibility for the Retirement Residence's overall operations in the absence of the General Manager
  • Establish and monitor a care plan for each resident to ensure the level and quality of agreed upon care.
  • Determine Nursing and PSW staffing requirements, directly responsible for the orientation, education, performance management and administration of schedules for the departmental staff.
  • Set goals and objectives for resident care progress.
  • When off duty, be prepared to give advice over the telephone and/or be on call for emergencies.
  • Ensure that the needs and safety of the residents, families, and staff are met.
  • Ensure resident files/charts are complete and maintained in an orderly fashion.
  • Ensure resident documentation is complete as per guidelines.
  • Discuss resident needs with families, physicians, and other health care professionals.
  • Ensure resident care requirements by scheduling and assigning nursing staff.
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to residents, friends, and families.
  • Protect residents and employees by maintaining infectioncontrol policies and protocols, enforcing medication administration, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Keep uptodate knowledge of changing regulations, practices and procedures as required by the College of Nurses.
  • Keep up to date on various legislation and laws regarding retirement homes and employment standards.
  • Ensure awareness and compliance with safety related issues including medications, lifting, transferring, mobility, etc.
  • Work as the RN "on the floor" (including dispensing the medication) in case of emergency.
  • Conduct preadmission assessments of new residents and create preadmission care plans and communicate accordingly
  • Maintain nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipating needed supplies.
  • Oversee the drug administration programs for residents including control and safekeeping of drugs and narcotics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact effectively within the team, with residents and clients and families as well as external service resources.
  • Convene and participate in meetings as necessary to ensure the effective management and operation of the Nursing Department
*Qualifications*- Maintains a current registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Approximately 13 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience demonstrating progressive leadership and handson approach to monitoring and evaluating resident care is preferred
  • Proven supervisory skills.
  • Able to work under mínimal supervision and demonstrate the ability to effectively supervise others.
  • Strong English language communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation is essential, as are computer skills.

*Working Conditions*- Hours of Work: Monday

  • Friday 8:30am5:00pm with flexibility based on business needs
  • Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours
