Job Description:


Position Summary:

The Speech Language Pathologist will provide assessment, consultation, and treatment of a variety of swallowing and communication disorders to inpatient adults in our medicine and surgery program with some early consulting in Emergency and ICU.

Opportunity to work with and provide supervision to a Communication Disorders Assistant as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.

This part time position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.


Skills and Qualifications:


  • Graduate of an approved program in speechlanguage pathology required
  • Registered with the College of Speech Language Pathologists and Audiologists of Ontario required
  • Recent clinical experience in the areas of adult and geriatric swallowing and communication disorders, including conducting and interpreting Videofluoroscopic Swallow Studies.
  • Completion of a Dysphagia continuing education course will be required for new graduates
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to set priorities and work effectively in a fast paced environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an interprofessional team
  • Possess comprehensive assessment, treatment, and documentation skills
  • Keyboarding skills and knowledge of Meditech system a definite asset
  • Regular attendance is required
