The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) was created to respond to unit nursing staffing requirements at UHN based on: patient acuity; replacement needs for leaves such as sick or vacation time; and known short-term vacancies when the units internal staff resources are limited.

Currently we are seeking an Administrative Assistant I to support the Team in particular with performing staffing administration functions including assigning staff to nursing units based on unit requests and available NRT staff, informing NRT staff and Nursing units of staffing resources, scheduling with developing structures and processes that will help to organize and improve work-flow in the NRT office.

Also included are duties related to supporting the PMH Nursing Resource Unit and the site Nursing Administration Coordinators in their role.


Qualifications:

  • Completion of a recognized post secondary secretarial arts program at the certificate level or equivalent
  • One (1) year related secretarial experience
  • Previous onthejob computer/word processing, database and spreadsheet software experience
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Good interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with Hospital standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and standards
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Environment preferred
  • Experience working in a health care environment preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
