Your Opportunity:


Practicing within full scope, the Pharmacy Technician performs all aspects of drug distribution to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs leading to safe and effective patient care.

Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
Medication selection, preparation, repackaging and final product checking. Sterile and non-sterile compounding and final product checking. Daily unit dose filling and checking. Wardstock and barcoding. Narcotics, benzodiazepines and controlled substances handling, distribution to patient care units, and destruction. Providing guidance to and assisting with the training and orientation of staff and students.

Providing clinical support through obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifies discrepancies and/or collects and organizes information to support the provision of direct patient care.

Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues.

Maintaining a high standard of performance through completion of internal validation programs that assess proficiency in identified tasks and participating in special projects and programs as assigned.

You may also maintain department records, statistics, training materials, and prepare reports as required.

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician.


Additional Required Qualifications:

As Required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Membership with a pharmacy professional organization is preferred. Hospital pharmacy experience including but not limited to medication selection, compounding, checking, and narcotics handling. Experience with Epic Willow computer system is preferred.
