Key Responsibilities

  • Promote positive safety and learning culture through all your actions and activities.
  • Direct oversight and leadership in all safety and L&D programs within DC
  • Investigate and resolve compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities through audits, investigations proactive risk analysis and corrective actions.
  • Work with operations management to implement Safety and Learning improvements including but not limited to safety Kaizen events.
  • Work with operations management to implement investigation through the Root Cause Corrective Action process
  • Oversee documentation to comply with Global Industrial and OSHA, EPA and DOT regulations
  • Upkeep of Safety Management Systems & L&D management systems
  • Train and oversee supervisors to perform safety observations, audits, corrective action
  • Perform specific safety training as required, to include but not be limited to Hazard Communication, Powered Industrial Truck, DOT HazMat and Root Cause and Corrective Action investigation and reporting
  • Oversee site hazard waste and universal waste programs
  • Conduct train the trainer courses and participate in training as required
  • Report noncompliance with any local state and government EHS requirements
  • Responsible for having a working knowledge of all distribution center positions and duties
  • Responsible for classroom and initial handson technical training of all nonexempt DC employees in all aspects of their position
  • Responsible for the development of or assisting with the development of technical training materials, Work Instructions (WI), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Best Method Guides and the maintenance of all technical training and SOPs
  • Responsible for SOP validation and onfloor observations partner with Operations to ensure process execution and SOP's are aligned. Partner with Operations to retrain employees when SOP's are modified
  • Creates handson facilitators guides, modules, test and quizzes for all existing and new associates
  • Facilitate classroom and on the floor training on processes, systems, safety, and ergonomic techniques
  • Indepth knowledge of local warehouse training and cross training needs
  • Develop and maintain training tools, including worksheets, templates, matrix, and reports
  • Facilitates delivery of training material to all new and existing associates
  • Provides individual coaching and motivation to trainees on progress and performance
  • Ensures a seamless transition from training to the live production floor
  • Work as a team with all members of the operation to meet company training and quality goals
  • Provide reporting on effectiveness and progress of the training experience, and offer recommendations for improvements
  • Work to continually improve attrition and reduce turnover with thorough training programs.

Competencies and skills

  • Minimum of 2 years in an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) related field or bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent experience, preferably in a safety related field
  • Knowledge of regulations specifically 29 CFR & 49 CFR
  • Experience using Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel in a professional capacity
  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Positive & professional attitude
  • Available to work flexible hours as needed including all shifts and weekends
  • Passion for safety, learning and development
  • Must be able to work in a warehouse environment
  • Ability to gain consensus and work with multiple departments simultaneously

Pay:
$65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
