Hexagon Smart Materials (SMat) System Administrator to join the Digital group in Mississauga.

Digital solutions have become a key component of the strategic direction and vision of today's modern organizations.

This journey will lead to improved project outcomes, being able to leverage the digital twin, systems integration and interoperability, support for decision-making, autonomous execution, and integrated operations and performance centers.


  • Proactively identify and resolve issues to prevent unplanned system downtime
  • Install new software or software versions on servers
  • Develop and maintain system documentation such as system architecture diagrams, Installation procedures, and various How to Guides
  • Publish maintenance schedules
  • Perform system health checks after IT completes regular maintenance on SMat servers
  • Assist with SMat system upgrades and hot fixes
  • Participate in deployment efforts of internally developed functions, reports, and interfaces
  • Setup projects in SMat as per standard and project specific requirements
  • Add SMat users and ensure that they have access to system components and reports as per requirements
  • Work closely with Hatch Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) team to set up External Accounts, SSL certificates, Citrix, and similar
  • Have a thorough understanding of SMat integrations and work with other systems' administrators on monitoring and proactively identifying and resolving issues related to connectivity, services, API and similar
  • Respond to requests and priorities set by the SMat Product Manager
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned
  • Maintain SLA, system availability, capacity management and performance KPI

You bring to the role:


  • Demonstrable admin and support experience
  • Demonstrable experience in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of technology to include hardware, software, and networking
  • The ability to multitask and deliver on time
  • Experience with writing Oracle SQL queries
  • The ability to learn quickly and handle a variety of responsibilities and tasks
  • A strong client focus
  • Willingness to work occasionally afterhours as part of a crossfunctional team supporting global projects

Working knowledge in the following areas is considered an asset:

  • Smart Materials (product of Hexagon)
  • Agile Methodology and use of DevOps
  • Oracle PL/SQL, Apex
