General Accountability


Responsible for researching and assessing training needs to design, build, implement and evaluate interactive e-learning programs for employees and partners of SGI and its regional operations.

Collaborates with various stakeholders and identifies, recommends, and implements engaging web-based course offerings and administers and provides technical support for the learning management system and e-learning related software.

Digital Learning Design & Development (40%) Leads e-learning projects, manages portfolio assignments, and participates as a SME as it pertains to e-learning to create engaging online learning experiences.

- Conducts research to understand and evaluate the latest e
- learning trends and technologies to keep programs exciting and engaging for learners.
  • Conducts training needs assessments, designs, and leverages technology to develop elearning solutions.
  • Designs elearning courses according to adult learning principles, instructional design principles and elearning best practices.
  • Designs and develops interactive storyboards to outline course content, narrations, desired graphics, and interactions.
  • Develops elearning courses using elearning authoring software and other related software programs and resources.
  • Arranges and conducts course review and testing for quality assurance purposes.
  • Reviews and provides feedback to peer courses for adherence to standards.
  • Reviews existing training materials to identify potential areas for design modification using new technologies.
  • Completes procedure and documentation updates.
  • Develops elearning course evaluations and tracks the progress and success of elearning programs.


Digital Learning Practices & Standards (20%)- Researches, documents and communicates best practices in e-learning design, delivery and authoring.- Develop, maintain and distribute training materials for e-learning authoring, including templates and standards to business units across the organization.- Establishes protocols for publishing e-learning content and storing e-learning courses and assets.- Manages the selection, installation and maintenance of new e-learning third party content with business partners.- Works collaboratively with staff and management to ensure the development of a consistent product that is customized to SGI's environment.


Learning Management System (LMS) (20%)- Performs general systems administration duties.- Troubleshoots and resolves LMS issues.- Develops and maintains LMS procedures.- Develops, generates and distributes LMS reporting.- Performs systems testing for upgrades, system enhancement and troubleshooting purposes.


Leadership (10%)- Actively contributes to and supports a culture of a high performing workforce.- Participates in divisional succession plans, ensuring ongoing professional and career development and supports development in others.- Supports a culture of leadership and accountability to effectively deliver on strategic and corporate strategies.- Is actively committed to leadership development across the company, supporting team and workforce readiness through mentoring, training and developmental opportunities.


Corporate Management (10%)- Enables the success of programs and policies that are in alignment with corporate, strategic and divisional strategies.- Manages risk in area of authority.- Ensures that the Health, Safety and Emergency Management Policy is applied in area of responsibility.


Education and Experience- Four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business or Social Sciences.- Working towards a diploma or certificate in adult education, instructional design, or New Media Communications.- Three years' experience in designing e-learning based on adult education principles.- A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be considered an asset.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of instructional design and curriculum development for e-learning programs.- Knowledge of software and programs used in the development and implementation of e-learning programs at SGI (i.e., Articulate & Adobe).- Knowledge of consulting and needs assessments.- Knowledge of adult learning theory and concepts.- Knowledge of Microsoft Power Suite, Word and Excel.
