Carpenter for the ongoing work in Halifax Regional Municipality.


Carpenter

Responsibilities:

• Study and interpret project blueprints and specifications to understand the scope of work, dimensions, and materials required
• Select appropriate materials for each project, considering durability, aesthetics, and cost

- effectiveness

• Accurately measure, cut, and shape wood, plywood, and other materials according to project specifications
• Perform finish work such as sanding, staining, and painting to enhance the appearance of the completed project
• Assess and repair existing structures and fixtures, replacing or repairing damaged woodwork as needed
• Work closely with other tradespeople, to ensure coordinated and timely project completion
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment

Qualifications:

• Demonstrate proficiency in carpentry techniques, including framing, finishing, and cabinetry.
• Experience working in a similar role
• Experience working on a project site is considered an asset
• Trade certification is considered an asset
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately
• Competency in using a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and measuring tools
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems encountered during the project
• Effective communication skills
• Efficient time management skills
• Valid WHMIS certificate
• Valid driver's license

Location

• Downtown Halifax, NS
• Site parking available

Hours of Work

• 7:00am5:00pm
• Occasional weekend & night work required

Project Duration

• Until December 2025

Salary:
$30.00-$35.00 per hour


Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
• Weekends as needed
