Resident Engagement Worker who is responsible for ensuring the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of the residents in our Housing program.

The Mustard Seed is committed to helping people who are homeless transition toward and maintain sustainable and healthy lifestyles. The Mustard Seed provides a safe and supportive environment to all residents.

Reporting to the Resident Program Supervisor, the Resident Engagement Worker is responsible for ensuring the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of the residents in our Housing program and works collaboratively with their support systems to encourage resident/family independence, community engagement, and housing stability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Connect with a specified group of families living in Hub29 housing on an ongoing basis to assist in building the skills of daily living
  • Support the working relationship between the resident/family members and their support network; refer the resident/family back to their case worker whenever possible/necessary; ensure clear lines of communication with outside organizations who serve the residents
  • Refer residents to The Mustard Seed services and collaborating with those services; provide information about community supports
  • Manage a client caseload as assigned by the Supervisor of Resident Engagement
  • Advocate on behalf of residents
  • Document resident/family interactions, referrals, progress, and any change in behavior
  • Complete 6month reassessments; Resident Care Plans; incident reports and daily logs in a timely manner
  • Welcome and supporting volunteers with events
  • Cover Front Desk for patrols and breaks; conduct security rounds
  • Create surveys and flyers using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
  • Support Property Management as needed, delivering notices, flyers, and other duties requested by Property Management
  • Host community events; engage in intentional interactions with residents to build rapport and foster community
  • Encourage community participation
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Diploma or an undergraduate degree in a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working with marginalized individuals
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a crossfunctional team
  • Ability to interact with a variety of individuals
  • Strong administrative and computer skills
  • Conflict resolution skills and ability to manage residents in crisis situations
  • A passion to be part of ending homelessness
  • Security guard experience is considered an asset

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Moderate physical effort required to successfully accomplish the essential job functions: standing, walking and ability to lift 50lbs required
  • Moderate to high mental effort required to successfully accomplish essential job functions such as providing information, resolving discrepancies, responding to highly intense situations

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
