    Position Description:

    Underthe direction of the Senior Manager Human Rights & Equity, this position isresponsible for the implementation of the College's Sexual Harassment andSexual Violence Policy. The incumbent will consult and coordinate responseswith relevant campus and community stakeholders to implement and maintain aCollege-wide protocol that ensure a consistent, respectful, and supportivesurvivor-centred response to disclosures and complaints.

    Key responsibilities:

  • Responds to individual disclosures of sexual harassment and sexual violence with sensitivity and particular attention to the diverse impacts of violence on equity seeking groups (, female survivors who are racialized, Trans or gender non-conforming, queer, faith-based and/or have disabilities and/or are members of other historically marginalized communities, etc.).
  • Provides counselling and information to employees and students to support outreach support and community connections.
  • In consultation with the Senior Manager Human Rights & Equity, engages the College complaint resolution protocol to investigate alleged incidents when required. The Advisor works with other College employees to respond complaints, disclosures, and/or reports in a manner consistent with the College's commitment to the Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence Policy.
  • Meets with individuals during emotionally charged situations to record statements and gather other details (, witness statements, evidence, as appropriate). Conducts interviews, collects relevant information in a professional and compassionate manner, including reviewing information from survivors.
  • Collects best practices in creating and revising sexual harassment and sexual violence educational materials, presentations and promotional/informational material that can support the OAREHRS office building awareness and education efforts for employees, students, and the public.
  • Collaborates with external and internal marketing services to develop and implement a communication campaign to inform all employee groups, students, and community members about sexual harassment, sexual violence. Highlights related to College/campus specific items to build heightened awareness of all community stakeholders.
  • Collects, analyzes, and identifies trends and statistics for reporting to college stakeholders and external government agencies. Prepares statistics for reporting to the College and external sources as required by legislation such as Ministry agencies etc.
  • Other related duties as assigned (, drafting briefing notes, drafting documents, working on projects, etc.).
  • Educational and Experience Requirements:

  • Master's degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in relevant field (Counselling, Social Work, Policy, Gender Students, Adult Education).
  • Minimum five (5) years' working experience at an intermediate competency level responding to and including the handling of sensitive sexual assault/violence situations and investigations, with familiarity of a wide range of community support services (experience in a college, university, community, or agency is preferred).
  • Experience providing advice and/or counselling survivors and respondents of Human Rights, and Sexual assault/violence matters. Experience treating survivors of sexual assault/violence, with advanced knowledge and skill in trauma informed and survivor centered practices.
  • Experience with case management including triage and stabilization of emotionally charged crisis situations.
  • Experience with procedures regarding understanding the psychological trauma of sexual assault and the investigative and legal aspect. Experience managing or responding to crisis intervention for sexual assaults/violence.
  • Requires demonstrated experience implementing anti-violence programming, using an intersectional, anti-oppressive framework, including policy development, training, and communication plans.
  • Requires competent understanding of Canadian Criminal and Tort law and regulations, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, FIPPA, Human Rights, Health & Safety, and other governing legislations and regulations.
  • Proficient MS Office Suite and database skills.
  • Skills and Attributes:

  • Advanced counselling, mediation, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and written reporting skills to record sensitive and volatile situations, de-escalation techniques, advocacy, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Skills in understanding and interpreting policy, and ability to apply procedures and protocol.
  • Ability to exercise discretion regarding sensitive or confidential issues.
  • Excellent outreach, research, report writing, and problem-solving skills.
  • Solid multi-tasking, organizational, analytical, and administrative skills.
  • Excellent customer service, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to travel between campuses to support survivors and to attend meetings.
