Complexity and Scope of the Position:

The Vice President, LTC Resident Care and Services is responsible for resident care, program and supportive services, dietary and environmental services in 23 owned and managed LTC homes in Ontario.

They are also responsible for supporting our Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Program as well our Medical Director/physician services. The VP is also responsible for MLTC standards, compliance, quality indicators and overall risk management.

They direct, lead, coach and mentor the LTC Consultants and the Quality Team to support the homes and enable the home's leadership team to meet AgeCare's mission and vision.


Key Activities:


  • Works in collaboration with the VP, Ontario Long Term Care Operations to provide overall leadership to the LTC homes and ensures the effective operation of AgeCare's Ontario LTC properties.
  • Leads and directs the Consultants and the Quality Team to serve and support homes in improving compliance, quality indicators and systems effectiveness.
  • Coaches and mentors LTC Consultants and the Quality Team in effective leadership principles and practices as they engage, enable and empower home leadership teams.
  • Highlights the expectation of the Consultants and Quality Team to positively impact customer satisfaction and employee engagement.
  • Identifies, coordinates and oversees compliance with the Fixing Long Term Care Home Act and Regulations and other pertinent legislated standards and requirements, regulating the operation of a home.
  • Directs and collaborates with the Director of Quality and Systems Effectiveness (DQSE) to simplify and effect efficiencies that reduce redundancies and lessen the workload of homes while improving clinical and operational outcomes.
  • Ensures any assigned business plan initiatives are completed within the designated timeframes.
  • Coordinates the preparation of Quality and Risk Reports in collaboration with the DQSE.
  • Recommends revisions for Policy and Procedure Manuals in collaboration with the DQSE for the effective and efficient operation of the homes.
  • Participates in and represents AgeCare at appropriate external meetings with the Ontario Long Term Care Association, the Ontario Ministry of Long Term Care, Ontario Health and other appropriate government, LTC and health related agencies and organizations.
  • Operationalizes quality/risk management information. Works with DQSE and the Quality Team to review and determine appropriate introduction of various quality initiatives and analyze changes in the sector.
  • Participates in the development of and ongoing compliance with property and G&A budgets.
  • Promotes staff development through effective supervision, ongoing support and coaching.
  • Liaises with Directors of Regional Operations regarding present levels of service, quarterly updates and contract review as required.
  • Participates in the rollout and support of new corporate initiatives.
  • Supports the overall IPAC program for the Ontario LTC homes.
  • Reviews monthly G&A financial reports related to their department.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:


_Experience:

  • A minimum of fifteen years of relevant experience in long term care.

_Education:

_:


  • Recognized degree, BSC
  • RN with enhanced education and training in Gerontology.
  • Must have education in health or Long Term Care management, or in dietary health or social services.
  • Must have current Administrator Certificate through Ministry of LTC approved program.

  • A sound knowledge and background in Leadership and Management including nursing, medical, dietary and recreation requirements.
  • A background in Long Term Care Home management including fire, health and occupational health and safety standards, business, personnel administration and quality processes.
  • A thorough knowledge of The Fixing Long Term Care Homes Act and regulations and other pertinent provincial and municipal laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with organization function, policies, and procedures of LTC homes as they relate to management.
  • Knowledgeable with respect to developments and trends in the Long Term Care field.
  • Must practice excellence in planning, implementation, communication, leadership, management and interpersonal skills.
