Job summary

The Learning Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the diverse needs of learners within the classroom, school, and community settings throughout Rocky View Schools (RVS). Reporting to the Principal,

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to students as identified in their individualized plans including those students who require additional types of supports such as personal medical care safety needs
    - Implements and reinforces strategies as directed by the teacher(s)
    - Actively promotes student learning independence
    - Facilitates interaction among students with special needs peers
    - Respects confidentiality maintains privacy of information related to students personnel
    - Supports routine personal care activities such as toileting movement personal hygiene eating drinking feeding Assists exercising adaptive physical education range motion programs fine gross motor skills development directed specialist monitored teacher Supports medical needs directed assisting student transfers tube feeding managing tracheotomy oxygen catheterization administration prescription medication other routine medical requirements
