Position Summary:

Full time hours may be available working as a Counsellor with TCG

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides clinical counselling / psychotherapy to clients during walkin hours
  • Provides culturallyappropriate and languagespecific direct service including client assessment, treatment, and referrals
  • Provides advocacy and referrals to help clients' access relevant community services. Where necessary and useful, collaborates with other professionals (i.e. doctors, settlement workers and other healthcare professionals).
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with community agencies, schools, courts, child welfare workers, etc., makes referrals and mobilizes community resources where indicated on matters relating to clients' welfare
  • Ensures quality client care that is consistent with best practices, agency standards, and evidencebased approaches (particularly brief, narrative, & solutionfocused therapies).
  • Maintains necessary documentation and case records.
  • Participates in supervision, meetings, workshops (including professional development opportunities)
  • Performs related work as assigned

Qualifications/Experience:


  • M.S.W., M.Ed. (Counselling) or equivalent degree
  • Be registered or eligible for registration with CRPO or OCSWSSW, or equivalent Professional Colleges and Associations Maintains or is eligible to maintain professional liability insurance through their association
  • Experience in shortterm/brieftherapy, single session, strengthbased, narrative counselling approaches would be an asset
  • Commitment to inclusive, multicultural programming delivered via a racial equity lens; prior experience working in coalitions with diverse communities and an understanding of intersectional oppressions.
  • Direct experience working with LGBTQ+ populations, including the spectrum of gender identity, transgender, and nonbinary issues.
  • Strong leadership, administrative, organization, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with a wide range of personalities.
  • Knowledge of community resources and hostagent language and culture.
  • Ability to work flexible hours according to program need.
  • Crosscultural experience an asset
