AECOM Canada Nuclear Services is searching for a Nuclear Site Quality Inspector Mechanical for a full-time position based at Chalk River, supporting the Construction Management Team at the site.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

Site Quality Inspector - Mechanical is responsible for technical and quality inspections of mechanical installations, as well as surveillance and witnessing of work performed by other trades.

The primary responsibility is to perform independent testing, surveillance, oversight and witnessing of activities related to procurement, construction, and maintenance projects.

These duties include, but are not limited to, preparing & implementing inspection and test procedures, identifying installation, product & process issues, implementing the nonconformance process through records and tracking systems, performing independent testing of mechanical, and providing formal reports.


SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Support the Site Inspection Lead in the execution of the Quality Control Program


Position responsibilities include:

  • Review project Inspection & Testing Plans (ITP) and other Project Plans, as needed.
  • Participate in independent quality testing, oversight, surveillance and witnessing of field activities and installations.
  • Participate in independent sampling, testing and material receipt inspection.
  • Support the preparation and implementation of project mechanical assessment strategies and reports to cover all project phases.
  • Ensure that all nonconformance issues are promptly investigated, corrective and preventive actions are proposed/implemented and are closed out in a timely manner; assist in trending and analyzing quality data.
  • Liaise with client and contractor quality representatives, and project members to ensure that all quality issues are documented and resolved.
  • Interface and coordinate with clients, contractors, and inspection & testing agencies on QC matters; oversee related inspection & testing activities for quality and conformance to deliverable requirements.
  • Coordinate QC deliverables and documentation; participate in QC planning activities.

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:


The skills and knowledge to execute this role are usually acquired through 3+ years of experience in a nuclear environment.

The individual would possess good written and verbal skills.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree with 4 years of related construction experience or

Diploma/ Journeyperson Certificate in a related field

  • Journeyperson Pipefitter, Welder, Boilermaker, Millwright or NDE certification.
  • Level 2 or 3 certification in accordance with CSA W178.2, AWS QC1, or CAN/CGSB / ISO 9712:2012.
  • 4 years of relevant experience.

Strongly Preferred Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years as a construction journeyperson mechanical with experience in the core mechanical areas below.
  • A minimum three years' experience in construction QC inspection, preferably in the nuclear industry.
  • Water and wastewater treatment plant experience.
  • Core Experience: Plumbing (piping, sanitary and waste systems, rainwater harvest, compressed air, potable water, fixtures and fittings); HVAC (vibration isolation and seismic control, pressure testing of ducted air systems, fuel piping, ductwork and accessories, fans, fume hoods, air filtration, gas fired equipment; air handling units and heaters); integrated building automation systems; monorail hoists and nondestructive examination.
  • Demonstrate meeting the requirements of CSA W178.2 or AWS QC1 with evidence of an eye exam showing 20/20 vision corrected or uncorrected within the last two years.
  • Demonstrated good analytical skills and familiarity with quality tools and methodologies.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices for inspection, testing, quality control and defect management.
