    The Sales Specialist is part of a team that is required to continue to create momentum and excitement through centre tours, and to maintain all sales functions and systems. The Specialist assists the Supervisor/Director in providing leadership to the department volunteers and coaching department staff team during duty period, ultimately ensuring the direct delivery of quality service to all members of the YMCA Centre through leadership and effective management of the staff and operations of the Sales Desk.

    In this role, you will:

  • Maintains YMCA standards and is a positive role model for our Mission, Vision and Commitment to Service. Adheres to Priority S.A.M. standards and EYE.
  • Makes decisions and solves problems regarding membership sales functions, membership accounts, members' concerns, and members' behaviour.
  • Responsible for coordinating and monitoring sales and renewals, including follow up on promotions and organizing data, to ensure sales and renewal targets are met or exceeded.
  • Provides direct delivery at the Sales desk, modeling excellence in sales and service; utilizes EYE Role Model, 7 Steps of Selling Behaviour Grids and Coaching Techniques.
  • Assists the Sales Supervisor with the development of the Sales supplies budget, monitors, maintains an adequate supply of all required printed materials, office supplies that are required for the departments use and function.
  • Assists Supervisor in recruiting, and developing effective volunteer teams within the department.
  • Organizes and performs the Membership Assistance Program Interviews and Reassessments.
  • Performs daily banking responsibilities such as cash outs, ensuring targets are met and/or exceeded. Provides administrative support to department and centre as required.
  • Monitors Accounts Receivable, ensures follow-up on overdue accounts/members who are accessing the centre, ensures the completion of the weekly Centre Accounts Receivable reports, cancels overdue accounts with 2 or more rejected payments and recommends to finance which accounts need to be written off.
  • Provides leadership and support as a member of the Centre's senior staff team. Acts as an effective Service Leader as required.
  • Participates in task groups, special assignments and opportunities that further the Association mission, vision and strategic initiatives including the Core Service Functional Group.
  • Demonstrates appropriate behaviours in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; takes a member focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represents the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner.
  • Understands the legal responsibilities and moral imperative to report suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services.
  • Understands the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with members, volunteers, donors and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • You bring:

  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or related area and/or related experience
  • Minimum 2 years sales and customer service experience
  • Leadership experience an asset
  • Current CPR, First Aid and Healthy Child Development training an asset
  • Previous philanthropy involvement; planning, storytelling, volunteerism an asset
  • Experience with CLASS and Raiser's Edge an asset
  • Well developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment responding with sensitivity and personal awareness to the diverse needs of members including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days. evenings and weekends
