Working under the supervision of the field manager, the Directional Driller/Locator will be responsible for all phases of any directional drilling jobs by planning, execution and management in order to meet or exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities
- Execute all work assigned safely, and adhere to company and sitespecific policies and regulations
- Ensure operation of drilling equipment
- Read and interpret plans or diagrams and perform required work
- Work under customers' standards for Fibre Optic installation
- Transport cargo and/or equipment in a safe manner
- Communicate with coworkers for prep work and project coordination
- Complete the daily maintenance programs as per equipment specifications, conduct pretrip/walkaround safety inspection
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment, and monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
- Complete Driver's logbook & daily vehicle inspection, maintenance and repair reports, accident or incident reports.
- Must be able to plan travel schedule and routes, receive and relay information to supervisor
- Loading and unloading of goods; tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo.
- Handle and distribute construction materials, loading and unloading vehicles with supplies, equipment, remove all debris from work sites
- Possibly operate small power tools (e.g. compaction jumping jacks, cut saws, air compressors and generators)
- Will perform all other duties as required by field manager
Qualifications
- Valid AZ or DZ license
- Must provide a clean driving record (abstract) and criminal check prior to employment commencing
- Working knowledge of Telecom Industry, Fibre Optic Installation
- Fully trained in the operations and maintenance of the Directional Drill and comfortable trouble shooting in the field.
- Comfortable around underground utility services.
- Must provide a clean driving record (abstract) and criminal check prior to employment commencing
- Familiarity with CVOR requirements.
- Must possess and exhibit strong safety acumen and demonstrate safe work practices.
- Must be able to work independently and demonstrate a strong customer service focus.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
- Willingness to follow INTUS best practices with focus on Best Directional Driller.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with managers, peers, and clients and maintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients
- Ability to operate all equipment functions independently and safely
- Ability to work with mínimal supervision
Physical Requirements
- Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty.
- Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl.
- Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Must be able to work in all outdoor elements for extended periods of time.
- Confined Space Entry may be required to accomplish tasks for some clients when applicable.
- Be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
- Must be able to climb ladders, and work from stationary platforms from elevated heights.
- Must be capable of working extended hours and variable shifts.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Salary:
$32.00-$38.00 per hour
