Your Opportunity:


This is an advanced clinical position responsible for providing assessment, treatment and follow-up, consultation/collaboration, and referral services adults and couples presenting with varied and complex mental/behavioral health needs.

In addition, the consultant teaches these skills to family physicians within an innovative interdisciplinary primary care mental health service.

Given the complexity of patients referred to the Family Counsellor - Shared Care Consultant by the primary care provider this position requires advanced clinical skills.


Description:

As a Family Counsellor, you will provide assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up to clients and their families.

You will also provide clinical focused consultation with other programs or community resources and acts as a liaison to develop and promote preventative health programs in the community.

You will collaborate with other health care providers and community service providers to ensure a continuum of care in the community.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college.

Preferred Qualifications:


Superior knowledge of the mental health system, services and resources and ability to facilitate referrals of primary care provider's patients.

Knowledge of DSM-V and medications used in the treatment of mental health conditions. Self-directed, innovative, flexible and capable of working both autonomously and in collaboration with health professionals.
