DESCRIPTION:

The Elementary Math Facilitator will work collaboratively with staff and students to support achievement outcomes in Math. The position will receive a responsibility allowance.

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Education, the facilitator will:
Provide training/coaching/support in Math to staff teaching in ministry identified priority schools and grades

Facilitate co-learning, co-teaching, and other job-embedded professional learning

Support the implementation of the new Math curriculum through high-yield instructional practices and the creation of teacher resources to support implementation

Support educators to facilitate opportunities for parent engagement

Lead and participate in professional learning opportunities

Assist students and educators to implement the effective use of assistive technology

Work with administrators to support the monitoring of student achievement

Work collaboratively with the members of the board team

Other duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Education


QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have two of the three basic qualifications (primary, junior, intermediate)

Experience teaching mathematics at all three levels considered an asset

Religious Education Part 1

One basic or additional qualification in mathematics

French as a Second Language is an asset

Special Education Part 1 is an asset


REQUIREMENTS:

Proven ability to use differentiated instruction and Universal Design for Learning

Proficiency with technology

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Superior interpersonal skills

Well developed facilitation skills

Ability to work both independently and in groups

Ability to travel throughout the jurisdiction of the board
