Head of Department for Toronto Engineering College (Science/Urban Planning Division)


We are seeking a highly qualified and visionary Head of Department to lead the Science/Urban Planning Division at our prestigious Engineering College in Toronto.

As the Head of Department, you will oversee programs such as Environmental Science, Earth and Atmosphere, Urban Planning, and Cities, Regions, and Planning.

Responsibilities:


Leadership and Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement a strategic vision for the Science/Urban Planning Division aligned with the college's mission and objectives.
Provide effective leadership and mentorship to faculty members and support staff within the division.
Set departmental goals, establish performance metrics, and monitor progress towards achieving them.

Ensure that the curriculum aligns with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends in science and urban planning.

Academic Excellence and Student Support:
Promote academic excellence by encouraging effective teaching practices, research, and professional development among faculty members.
Support and mentor students, ensuring they receive a high-quality education and practical training in science and urban planning disciplines.
Foster a culture of student engagement, inclusivity, and career development within the division.

Industry Engagement and Partnerships:

Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, government agencies, and professional associations to enhance internships, cooperative education, and employment opportunities for students.

Collaborate with external stakeholders to develop research collaborations, community-based projects, and experiential learning opportunities.

Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and policy changes in the field of science and urban planning to ensure program relevance and student preparedness.


Budgeting and Resource Management:
Manage departmental budgets, allocate resources effectively, and ensure responsible financial practices within the Science/Urban Planning Division.
Identify and secure funding opportunities, grants, and sponsorships to support divisional initiatives, research projects, and infrastructure enhancements.
