Position Requirements:


The Food and Beverage Cashier / Line Cook is responsible for day-to-day orders using a POS system, preparation and cooking all menu items in the Oasis Kitchen and the Campfire Cabin to the highest quality of standards.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Operate the grill, deep fryer, and pizza oven and all other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Cook all menu items using the appropriate equipment and recipe, and to the highest quality standards and plate according to portion sizes.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitization guidelines.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by maintaining excellent service standards.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations.
  • Serves food and drinks to guest in an enthusiastic manner.
  • Manages transactions with guests using a POS system (point of sales terminal) by processing cash and credit card transactions.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attendance record and work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in a professional manner with zoo visitors, vendors, volunteers and staff.
  • Complete light physical work as needed.
  • Understands, accepts and follows Greater Vancouver Zoo Policies and Procedures, including Emergency Procedures.
  • Other duties as directed.

Knowledge and Experience:

Experience working in a kitchen environment.

Knowledge of food handling and food service techniques.


Education Required:

Highschool diploma or equivalent.


Other Information:

Must possess a valid British Columbia Driver's License.

Must possess Food Safe Certificate

Complete Criminal Record Check

Possess Serving it Right Certificate is an asset

Full-time and Part-time positions. Seasonal Contract.
