    Joseph's Care Group is currently accepting applications for a permanent full time Manager, Indigenous Cultural Safety & Education in the Indigenous Health Program.


    Reporting to the Director - Indigenous Health, the Manager - Indigenous Cultural Safety & Education is responsible for developing, managing and overseeing programs and projects aimed at advancing strategic priorities (Walking with Humility) of Indigenous Health, N'doo'owe Binesi.

    The manager provides leadership to a team within the Indigenous Health department, by supervision of staff, and ongoing program and service development that promotes Indigenous pathways to healing.

    Key responsibilities include planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating and reporting progress of specific programs and projects within the Indigenous Health department.

    Key services lead by the Indigenous Cultural Safety & Education team include development/coordinating Indigenous cultural education, policy/procedure reform, and internal systems review.

    Playing a critical organization lead role, the manager is responsible for capacity and sustainability development of programs and projects that focus on enhancing safe and culturally sensitive care for clients, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion by supporting staff, physicians and volunteers to work in the spirit of reconciliation and uphold the rights of Indigenous People.

    Qualifications:

    Education/Experience :


    • Master's degree preferred in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the position.
    • Minimum 5 years experience working in health care setting.
    • Leadership experience with the ability to manage complex projects involving multiple departments, agencies, budgets and stakeholders.
    • Knowledge and/or experience of Indigenous health services and service delivery models (i.e. regional, provincial and national policy/funding issues).
    • Knowledge and/or experience applying the First Nations Principles of OCAP and Indigenous data governance (including intellectual property) processes, policies, and procedures.
    • Experience developing, implementing and sustaining network/partnerships.
    • Experience with strategic planning, project/program management, human resources, financial management, including demonstrated business skills, experience in program/system evaluation, and supporting quality improvement and implementation initiatives would be preferred
    Skills/Abilities:


    • Ability to speak Ojibwe or Oji-Cree is preferred
    • Knowledge of the current and changing dynamics of the health care system, related support services, and health equity for Indigenous populations.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing.
    • Strong decisionmaking, conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation skills.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of community resources and community needs, special knowledge of First Nation and urban Indigenous community needs.
    • An indepth understanding of Indigenous culture and traditions, worldview, history, ceremonies, and language.
    • Proven ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative relations with private and public officials, coworkers, and other stakeholders.
    • Strong project/time management, analytical/critical thinking, problemsolving, data analysis and evidencebased decisionmaking skills.
    • Ability to work independently, utilizing discretion and sound judgment.
    • Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and recognize others; proven ability to share skills and knowledge with others.
    • Proven acumen in business and financial management.
    • Ability to identify, understand, and meet/exceed the requirements of internal and external partners.
    • Committed to ongoing professional and personal (including cultural) development.
    • Proficiency with office computer equipment and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and data base applications.
    • Must be competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
