ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES FULL TIME POSITION


Grove Park Home is a Not-For-Profit organization that is comprised of 143 Long Term Care Beds, a small retirement home and an Adult Day Care Program.

Serving the citizens of Barrie for 50 years, Grove Park continues to enjoy a great reputation within our community.

Under the direction of the Manager of Environmental Services, this position will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the upkeep and cleanliness of the home as well as keeping the outside perimeter of the home tidy and well landscaped in a manner that is consistent with Grove Park Home's Mission, Service Philosophy, Policies and Procedures and in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety standards.


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Collection and disposal of waste (garbage and recycling)
  • Floor maintenance
  • Deep cleaning Resident rooms (wall repairs, painting, stripping & waxing floors) as assigned
  • Project work as assigned by Manager (Cleaning lights, baseboards etc)
  • Checking water temperatures
  • Completing Work Orders as assigned by Manager
  • Snow removal
  • Minor Home Maintenance (filling holes in walls, painting, hanging pictures etc.)
  • Minor Electrical Maintenance (changing lights, etc)
  • Minor Plumbing Maintenance (repairing toilets, taps etc.)
  • Receiving and distribution of deliveries

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Grade 12 or Equivalent
  • Experience in Maintenance an asset
  • Knowledge of fire safety
  • Computer skills an asset
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Be a good Team player as well as be able to work independently
  • Be dependable with a good work ethic & flexible to changes within the department and other departments of the Home
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety and W.H.M.I.S.

HOURS OF WORK:

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
