Synopsis of the role


As the Technology Planning and Execution (P&E) Portfolio Manager you work for the Head of P&E - Canada, as a key player in the P&E team.

This role requires both depth and/or breadth of expertise to govern and control a complex multi-year technology delivery portfolio.

This role will operate independently in portfolio assurance but will also provide matrix leadership to the Delivery Leaders and Project Managers.


What You'll do

  • Responsibility for planning, monitoring and managing the Canadian technology delivery portfolio that drives strategic and transformational business initiatives
  • Definition and implementation of standards for Portfolio/Programme governance and control
  • Portfolio planning for purposes of budgeting and leading the orchestration of business case process within Technology
  • Lead on ceremonies like portfolio readouts, scrum of scrums, etc. for the Canadian Technology leadership team with contribution from the delivery leaders and project managers.
  • Tracking/reporting on Programme controls like Statuses, KPIs, RAID, etc. which feed into the overall Portfolio reporting and controls
  • Perform Portfolio risk management analysis and advise/lead on remediation action internally and externally
  • Support escalations needed to resolve issues impacting the within Technology and wider Canadian Business and where relevant escalate to International or Global teams
  • Key liaison/conduit for communication to both internal and external stakeholders including International and Global teams
  • Establish strong working relationships with relevant International and Global stakeholders in P&E and other teams in order to achieve/ensure the success of the portfolio
  • Collaborate with teams like Product, Data & Analytics, Enterprise Programme Office, etc. and contribute to assurance of the wider Canadian portfolio
  • Strives to identify opportunities to increase productivity and efficiency in the teams through effort consolidation, resource strategies, budget reallocation, etc.

What experience you need

  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in technology, business or related technical field required
  • 10+ years technology (or transferable) experience, preferably in a financial services or technology services organization
  • 5+ years of project/programme management in/of complex portfolios in a dynamic environment that spans across a large business unit or region
  • Experience in leading and/or establishing Agile PMO processes and governance framework for the departments/organizations previously worked in
  • Proven experience with strategic planning, project prioritization and reporting in a highlymatrixed environment
  • Excellent organizational skills, adaptability and experience working in a dynamic environment under tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as independent contributor with expertise of delivering outcomes from the wider team
  • Excellent stakeholder management (at different levels) using verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to create presentations for steering committees and executive leadership
  • Strong consultative, analytical and problem solving skills

What could set you apart

  • PMP, Agile or Scrum certification
  • Prior experience leading/matrix leading teams of Project or delivery managers
  • Prior experience working for a global consulting firm
  • Passion for and the ability to learn new technologies
  • Experience in G Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Data Analysis and dashboarding skills
