- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications to determine layout requirements
- Make detailed sketches for pipe and equipment fabrication and installation
- Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, valves and fittings
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
- Select type and size of pipe required
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system
- Mentor and train apprentices
- Performs other duties as required
- Ability to show up to work on time everyday
- Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
- Meet the physical demands of the job for lifting, standing, kneeling, etc.
- Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to take orders and follow instructions

- Blueprint reading

- Superior knowledge of applicable hand tools & power tools and scissor lifts
- Installation, maintenance, and repair skills.
- Ability to lead others in troubleshooting and emergency repairs.
- Ability to develop and implement planned maintenance programs.
- Ability to read, understand, and follows safety procedures
- Valid trade certificate and experience for trade level
