We are currently seeking a qualified US Tax Manager with a minimum of 8 years post certification public practice experience to join our Oakville based practice.

The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.


Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, supervise, and execute engagements and client projects in line with professional standards and Firm policies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, actively involved in clients' decisionmaking processes.
  • Prepare and review corporate and personal tax filings, including related tax planning.
  • Foster an efficient, innovative, and teamfocused environment.
  • Conduct research on technical matters related to client situations.

Specific Skills:

  • Comprehensive understanding of US personal tax rules including the preparation of FBAR forms, Form 5471, Form 8858, Form 8938, W8 Forms
  • Understanding of US domestic C corporate tax rules including form 5472, section 7872 issue; consolidated tax return filings
  • Understanding of IRS rules relating to Controlled Foreign Corporation; Subpart F, GILTI rules and Section 956 rules, section 382, transition tax rules of 201
  • Comprehensive understanding of the tax rules pertaining to nonresident filers (Form 1120F, Form 1040NR)
  • Understanding of PFIC rules
  • Understanding of Trust Filings 3520 / 3520A (grantor trusts)
  • Working knowledge of FIRPTA rules and US tax withholding rules
  • Understanding of State Nexus Rules, Public law and Impact of Wayfair case
  • Solid accounting understanding of Accounting for Income Taxes (e.g., tax provisions)
  • Familiarity with Streamlined tax submissions,
  • Understanding of the tax expatriation rules of 87
  • Excellent knowledge of US gift tax rules and preparation of the relevant tax forms
  • Excellent knowledge of US Estate tax rules and impact of Treaty on exemption
  • Understanding of the Canada US tax treaty and permanent establishment concepts
  • Good knowledge of US partnership rules and preparation of Form 1065, K1s

Professional and Experience Requirements:

  • CPA designation required.
  • Masters in US Tax preferred but not essential.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience specializing in tax compliance and planning.
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing personal, corporate, and trust returns.
  • Excellent client service skills.
  • Proficient in CCH Axcess, BNA tax research software, CaseWare, Xero Practice Management, and MSOffice.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Dedicated to delivering quality service and value to clients.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong business relationships.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail.

Salary:
$90,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
