Description

Job Description

You will be responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining life support equipment, including invasive and non-invasive ventilators, and anaesthetic gas machines. Your duties will involve conducting outpatient and inpatient diagnostic testing, such as spirometry and arterial blood gases, initiating, monitoring, and discontinuing oxygen therapy when necessary, responding to cardiac arrest codes and high-risk births for airway maintenance and resuscitation, as well as performing intubation as directed by the physician. It will also be your role to educate patients and hospital staff, engaging in departmental quality assurance activities, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, and contributing to the development and review of departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Current registration with the College of Respiratory Therapists of Ontario
Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire
Minimum of 3 years of experience in critical care
Neonatal Resuscitation Certification (NRP) mandatory
ACLS certification preferred
Minimum of 3 years acute care experience necessary for positions in Milton and Georgetown
Experience in a fast-paced clinical setting
Proficiency in computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office
Strong leadership and problem-solving abilities
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to build positive relationships with patients, families, and healthcare professionals
Capability to work collaboratively as part of a critical care team
Physically fit to meet the demands of the role
Good attendance and employment record

Additional Information

Hours: Various rotating 12-hour day and night shifts (0700-1900, 1900-0700), subject to change based on operational needs

Salary: $42.24 - $54.86 per hour
