BGC Weston-Mount Dennis & Lawrence Heights Clubs serves children and youth in the Lawrence Heights/Weston-Mount Dennis and surrounding communities providing social, physical, educational, creative, seasonal, and community support programs.
Your role as a Y
outh Camp Mentor will be to facilitate an empowering leadership program designed for youth to overcome experience and confidence gaps that may hinder them from fulfilling their potential.
youth 13-18 years of age.
Program components include developing valuable skills, boosting their self-esteem, and building connections as they plan and lead five or more service-learning initiatives and/or activities.

Baycrest Public School (50 Ameer Ave)
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and lead a group of youth in a group setting
- Ensure that you are creating a safe and enjoyable environment for participants
- Oversee the daytoday operations of the Youth Program, ensuring every aspects of the program are functioning adequately.
- Complete appropriate administrative tasks in a timely manner (i.e. attendances and head counts)
- Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating program for all levels of participants.
- Ensuring programs are safe, age/developmentallyappropriate, noncompetitive, inclusive, innovative and skilledbased in nature.
- Help to ensure the safety and security of the members and assist in responding to critical incidents as outlined in the Club's policies and procedures
- Participate in staff training and orientation sessions
- Ensuring the safety and supervision of participants at all times by strictly following guidelines and procedures (i.e. head counts)
- Dealing with conflicts and behavior management immediately using corrective techniques as discussed in training
- Report to, and takes direction from Program Manager and Supervisors
- Do other related tasks, as assigned
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with peers, members, volunteers, parents and other Club members
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings
- Arrive no later than 15 minutes prior to scheduled shift.
Qualifications:
- Educational background applicable to the position (asset)
Must meet all "Canada Summer Jobs" requirements including:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the
- Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.
- International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
- Experience working with
youth 13 to 18 years old:
Strong skills in one or more of the following areas: education, leadership, community-oriented, communication:- Strong supervision and program planning skills
- Good decision making and problem solving skills
- Current First Aid and CPR training (mandatory)
- Police Reference Check completed within last 6 months (mandatory to obtain prior to start date)
- HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (asset)
Contract Period:
June August 16, 2024
*Must attend mandatory training from June 24 to June 28*Hours: per week Monday to Friday looking for individuals available 5 days a week (mandatory)
