    Under general supervision of the Plant Manager, The Maintenance Technician maintains, troubleshoots and services electrical and mechanical equipment, support all production and physical plant equipment in the facility.

    Immediately report any potentially dangerous conditions or other safety concerns to the Plant Manager.

    • Start up and shuts down equipment in accordance with operation's requirements, company safety procedures and H&S requirements for machine activation and shutdown.
    • Perform general maintenance of company assets.
    • Perform regular building checks as required.
    • Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes and principles of operation of electrical equipment.
    • Performs mechanical repairs on equipment from hydraulic, pneumatic, etc.
    • Dismantle, inspect and replace machinery parts and replace defective electrical or mechanical parts.
    • Lay-out, assemble, install, test, repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment, and motors using appropriate tools and testing instruments.
    • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance tasks such as checking, cleaning, or repairing equipment to detect and prevent problems.
    • Maintain equipment logs that record performance problems, repairs, calibrations, or tests.
    • Calibrate testing instruments and installed or repaired equipment to prescribed specifications.
    • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as recommended by the manufacturer and or the facility's historical data.

    Experience:

    • Five (5) years of electrical and mechanical technical hands-on experience.
    • Technical skills including knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and pneumatic systems.
    • Knowledge of A/C & D/C motor drives, installation and start-up.
    • Familiarity and experience performing standard wiring per Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
    • Ability to occasionally work on weekends, overtime and share an on-call schedule.
    • Ability to troubleshoot control circuits, motors, motor control circuits, and other electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
    • Install and maintain electrical/mechanical systems.
