What is the opportunity?

As an Associate in our Credit and Transaction Management team, you will work closely with Corporate Banking ("CB") and Global Markets ("GM") Sales & Trading to support the growth of the corporate loan book and trading businesses, and will manage a portfolio of borrowers in the Healthcare, Technology, and CME sectors within the Global Credit division of RBC Capital Markets.

You will also work closely with other groups within Capital Markets and the Bank to deliver a full range of credit and banking services to multinational and other large corporate relationships.


_ Please note this is a 12 month contract opportunity_

What will you do?


You will be responsible for the administration of an assigned portfolio of borrowers, which include multinationals and other large corporate lending relationships, and will provide additional support to several Corporate Banking teams.


Your key responsibilities will include:

Annual Reviews: Ensure Annual Reviews of existing credit relationships are completed in a timely fashion and maintain a high quality of work.

Data Integrity:Ensure credit agreement terms are correctly reflected in the Bank's systems and that all credit documentation is accounted for and reviewed in a timely basis (e.g. credit agreements, amendments, waivers, security documents).

Portfolio Transaction Management: Includes but is not limited to: (i) Review and approve specific draw down requests, (ii) Develop expertise in assigned portfolio, policies and guidelines, and provide value added advice to internal partners, (iii) Ensure compliance with Bank Policy, and (iv) Participate in team deliverables with respect to regulatory/audit requests.

Corporate Banking (CB) / Global Markets (GM)

Support:

Provide transactional support to CB / GM which includes but is not limited to: credit transaction requests (new credit, refinancing requests, renewals, covenant waivers, loan documentation reviews), drafting loan proposals, trading line requests, and cash management requests.

Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely and maintain positive relationships with Corporate Banking (CB), Group Risk Management (GRM), Global Markets (GM), and Global Loans Administration (GLA).

Other Responsibilities: Completion of ad-hoc projects and other duties (including presenting to key stakeholders) efficiently and effectively in order to support the team's planned and unplanned demands.


What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:


  • MBA, professional designation (e.g., CA, CMA, CFA) or a postgraduate degree with a focus in business, accounting, economics, mathematics or other quantitative field, and relevant work experience
  • Previous banking experience or corporate lending experience with client relationship management, knowledge of structuring and writing of credit proposals, credit processes, policies, risk analysis would be an asset
  • Ability to read and understand complex legal documents (e.g. loan agreements, security documents)
  • Strong credit and analytical skills including the ability to critically assess financial statements and other client reports to draw reasoned conclusions and recommend a course of action
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong negotiation skills and an ability to manage conflicting demands and viewpoints, and multiple stakeholder expectations
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and to interact at all levels within a large organization
  • Ability to prioritize, perform well under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to strike a balance in putting "Client First" while ensuring that internal standards are maintained and deliverables are provided
  • Strong general PC Skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
