$25.84 per hour + 14% in lieu of benefits = $29.46 per hour (Jan 2024 rate)


$26.35 per hour + 14% in lieu of benefits = $30.04 per hour (July 2024 rate)

HOURS OF WORK:
Must be able to work weekends and evenings - Wednesdays, Fridays and/or Saturdays.


Hours based on organizational needs. Successful applicant must be available to work

during the _Learn to Skate (LTS) _
lessons and during Winter Wonderland date.

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Arena & Events Programmer, the Skating Team Lead assists in the delivery
of arena programs including on-ice leadership, teaching classes as required, scheduling staff, assisting with
organizing special events, communicating with instructors, participants, and supervisors. This position requires an
energetic, outgoing and responsible individual who implements programs which are instructional, fun and
exciting and maintains a safe environment.


JOB DUTIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Implements, oversees, and schedules staff to deliver the Greater Victoria Active Communities Learn to Skate
Program schedule. Ensures that report cards are completed. May be required to instruct skating lessons.

  • Discuss issues and concerns with parents regarding classes and programs.
  • Assists the Arena & Events Programmer with class additions, cancellations and printing of daily lesson class
lists and other administrative duties.

  • Assists with the organization, coordination, and scheduling of arena dropin ice programs for all age groups.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to arena programs staff.
  • Assists the Arena & Events Programmer with the orientation and training of arena programs staff.
  • Ensures facility policies, procedures and regulations are implemented.
  • Ensures proper documentation is completed for accidents and incidents.**
  • Provides routine reports on arena activities such as session attendance and simple statistics.
  • Works with Arena & Events Programmer in the coordination and implementation of special events.**
  • Performs other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma and two years of experience working in an ice arena setting, including experience in
skating instruction.

  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, customer service and problemsolving skills.
  • Demonstrated teamwork skills and leadership abilities are essential.
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel computer software.
  • Experience using Intelligenz recreation software would be an asset to this position.
  • Current Emergency First Aid and CPR C certification is required.
  • Completion of Regional Learn to Skate Training Session is an asset.
