JOB SUMMARY
:

The Gladue Aftercare Worker** reports to and works under the direct supervision of the A:se:? Dwaihwahsro:nihs (Restorative Justice) manager.


The Gladue Aftercare Worker is responsible for providing case and file management by assisting Indigenous community members to follow through with recommendations of their Gladue Report upon sentencing.

The Gladue Aftercare Worker will provide direct services and make necessary referrals to programs and services within Six Nations and external service providers (Indigenous or Non-Indigenous) to ensure our Community members receive services in a timely fashion.

The Gladue Aftercare Worker will work in partnership with the Gladue Writer, courts and/or probation and parole services in providing necessary community member input and updates as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Possesses a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Sociology with demonstrated strong counselling background and two (2) years of experience;
    OR:
  • Completion of an accredited college diploma in Social Services Worker program, with 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in counselling and the social service field
  • Must be registered with the Ontario College of Social Workers, or respective regulatory body, or willing to register
  • Knowledge of the judicial system, Criminal Code, and other related federal and provincial statutes and related court decisions regarding Indigenous individuals
  • Working knowledge of Indigenous cultures, communities and diversity of nations.
  • Experience in program delivery and administration.
  • Self motivated individual with the ability to work with mínimal supervision in a teamoriented setting.
  • Proven ability working with social agencies from Six Nations or other First Nations.
  • High level of Computer skills: Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher. Working knowledge of MS Office Software, internet, and general office equipment.
