Description

Reporting to the Care and Service Manager, the Clinical Educator will be accountable for the training and education of the field nurses within the district.

The Nursing Educator will practice in accordance with regulatory legislation and ParaMed's policies and procedures. The Nursing Educator will have the competence to deliver training, education, and in
- services for all business lines as outlined by the district education plan ensuring the delivery of safe, quality care and service.


Qualifications

  • Registration/licensing in good standing as a Registered Practical Nurse with provincial regulatory college
  • Preferably has a minimum of 2 experience as a practicing Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse in a community setting
  • Competence in best practices and standards of care for palliative, wound care, intravenous therapy, oncology and other specialties as relevant to the district needs
  • Superior oral and written communication skills to effectively deliver training and education
  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Excellent computer skills including experience in Word, Powerpoint and Excel are required
  • Able to provide a current, clear Vulnerable Position Screening (VPS)

Responsibilities

  • Selects and educates preceptors for students on placement
  • Educates staff for Flu and other Health and Wellness programs
  • Provides clinical orientation to Nurses and UCP's and assesses the skill competencies of new nurses
  • Arranges mandatory or centre specific education including back care training
  • Operationalizes the district educational plan in collaboration with the Care and Service manager
  • Delivers Ministry PSW training programs in the district
  • Participates in the interviewing of Nurses and UCP's
  • Conducts needs analysis to support creation of education plan for the District
  • Stays abreast of changes in practice setting that affect scope of practice
  • Champions ParMed's policies and procedures through education and training of staff
  • Integrates clientcentred practice expectations in all education and training events
  • Other duties as assigned

Competencies
Incorporates federal and provincial laws and regulations, national and provincial standards in their leadership i.e. Regulated Health Professionals Act.

Assumes professional responsibility, thinks critically, demonstrates practical knowledge, engages in professional development, manages own practice and advocates within system on clients/patients' behalf.
