The Ministry of Jobs, Economy, and Trade supports economic development, promotes trade and investment, attracts skilled workers, leads child care and promotes safe, fair and healthy workplaces.
Role Responsibilities:
Working with the Executive Director, Evidence, Policy and Governance, the Junior Policy Analyst is responsible in providing support to the Labour Market Policy Section to address Ministerial correspondence, briefing notes, and to complete other policy work.
- Research and Analysis
- Conduct thorough research on relevant policy issues, legislative proposals, and regulatory frameworks.
- Analyze and synthesize complex information to generate insights and recommendations for policy development.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, political developments, and emerging issues that may impact the organization.
- Policy Development
- Assist in the formulation and drafting of policy documents, briefs, and reports.
- Collaborate with senior policy analysts to contribute to the development of comprehensive policy recommendations.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of advocacy strategies to promote policy objectives.
- Data Collection and Interpretation
- Gather, organize, and interpret data to inform policy analysis and decisionmaking.
- Work with internal teams to obtain relevant data and ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Assist in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and advocacy groups.
- Participate in meetings, conferences, and events to represent the organization and gather valuable insights.
- Policy Monitoring
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, providing timely updates to the team.
- Evaluate the potential impact of policy changes and propose adjustments to organizational strategies as needed.

Qualifications:
University graduation in Arts, Public Administration or in a related field; no experience required; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
- Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated interest in and understanding of public policy issues.
Assets:
- Experience in a position that required strong writing skills.
- Experience with information management policies and practices.
- Experience in supporting or delivering a research project.
