Our team has been involved in the industry since 2009 and is responsible for many industry firsts, including powering Hybrid and fully Electric ferries, Offshore Supply Vessels, Global Freight carriers, Tugboats, Passenger Vessels, and zero-emission land-based grid energy projects.


The Instrumentation and Controls Specialist designs, programs, tests, and supports control and instrument panels and test jigs which are used in support of our battery management systems and is responsible for the integration of all control and communication with the client control room.

Responsibilities:


  • Design and build control and instrument panels and test jigs
  • Prepare schematics and layouts with common apps such as Altium and Visio
  • Source required parts, equipment, and work with relevant vendors
  • Direct and/or conduct electrical tests and experiments as needed to support design efforts
  • Design the integration of Shift ESS with different customers systems
  • Availability to travel outside Canada upon request
Qualifications Required

  • Appropriate technical or engineering qualification
  • 5+ years' experience in design of electronics for industrial or IOT products
  • Ability, accuracy, thoroughness and timeliness, good work ethic, able to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate engineering requirements
  • Expertise in:
  • Designing and drawing electrical and electronic circuits composed of PLCs, relays, fuses, batteries, timers, breakers, switches, digital and analog sensors, logic functionality
  • Component selection and ordering, mechanical layout and construction and wiring of instrumentation panels
  • Creating documentation including schematic drawings, P&ID, I/O lists, billsofmaterial, labels, functional descriptions
  • Creating and testing PLC software
  • Designing, executing, recording, and reporting formal test procedures
  • Use of test and diagnostic tools such as meters, oscilloscopes, etc.
  • Nice to haves:
  • Experience with energy storage management systems
  • Experience working in a startup environment
  • Experience in the Marine industry
  • Experience with fire fighting and gas sensors systems
This position is open to Canadian citizens and Permanent Residents.

Position is located in Vancouver, Canada with flexible working hours, including some working from home possible.
