We are looking to hire an individual who can guide the financial elements of our growth and also participate in the more strategic aspects of leading our exciting company.

Job Summary:

This is a new position, reporting to the CEO and working closely with the finance team.

Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Strategic objectives:Collaboration with the senior executive team to establish the Company's strategic objectives and report against them over time.

Financial reporting:Monthly consolidation (two entities) under IFRS reported quarterly on the TSX-V exchange, participation in quarterly investor calls, and other reporting as required. Must be able to confidently present this data in a face-to-face or online environment.

Management reporting:Development of KPIs, oversight of budget process, and final review of internal reporting. Communication of results internally and externally where relevant.

Finance team management:Working with the Financial Controller to manage the finance team, including staffing decisions, performance reviews, and providing feedback, mentorship and support.

Systems management/improvement:Advising on internal controls and financial reporting improvements, including through the use of Excel and/or PowerBI for internal reporting.

Treasury:Working with the team to monitor cash flow position and expected cash movements, building long-term cash flow models and advising on financing decisions. Acting as primary contact with banking partners and other financial services.

Management of Accounting Processes:High-level oversight of accounting function to ensure relevant internal controls are being followed in the accounting and reporting processes.

External liaison:Work with the Financial Controller to coordinate and collaborate with external preparers, including financial auditors, tax preparers and SR&ED preparers.

Human Resources:Overall responsibility for HR management, including advising managers on compensation levels, management of ESOP program, guiding the onboarding process, guiding employee review process, and other HR issues as required.


Required skills and experience:


  • CPA (or legacy) designation in good standing
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong Excel skills, beneficial if a working knowledge of PowerQuery
  • Strong reconciliation and problemsolving skills
  • IFRS experience
  • Experience in designing and implementing accounting processes, systems, and controls

Additional beneficial skills:


  • Experience with NetSuite accounting software
  • Experience with companies in manufacturing and/or with inventory
  • Experience working with PowerBI reports

  • Standard hours are 8:30 4:30, with flexibility, primarily in our office environment
  • Overtime occurs as required to meet deadlines, but is not expected to be the norm
