POSITION PURPOSE:


Reporting to the Program Manager PSS Well-being, is responsible for promoting active return to work and attendance practices; partnering with the Corporate Workplace Health, Safety &Wellness in Corporate Services, to facilitate-integration to the workplace; supporting the Attendance Support Program for the Branch, including compiling, analyzing and reporting on sick leave absences; providing central point of contact for Paramedic and Seniors Services related to Return to work and absenteeism.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborates with the Corporate Workplace Health, Safety & Wellness in the planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of individualized modified work programs by providing support to remove barriers to return to work to assist ill/injured employees with reintegration to the workplace and accommodation processes.
  • Collaborates to identify suitable modified work assignments to support an employee's modified functional abilities and the operational requirements of the Branch.
  • Identifies resources and support services to assist employees in workplace reintegration (i.e. Peer Support, training requirements).
  • Compiles data and tracks attendance of employees to identify threshold exceeds, and advises and provides Branch management; with relevant documentation in preparation for Attendance Support Program (ASP) meeting.
  • Provides an overview of relevant data on absenteeism and the assistance provided under the guidelines of the ASP.
  • Coordinates ASP meetings with stakeholders, providing stage letters to employee and management.
  • Promotes conformity to York Region policies, standards, guidelines, regulations and legislation related to disability management practices.
  • Partner with the Corporate Health, Safety and Wellness to providing education and training on disability and attendance management and support to management and employees as required.
  • Performs other duties as required, to meet Branch objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Postsecondary Diploma in Human Resources/Disability Management/Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
  • Designation as either a certified Return to Work coordinator (CRTWC)/Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP) or Canadian Vocational Rehabilitation Professional (CVRP)
  • Minimum 3 years' (3) experience in Human Resources in the public sector providing support and coordination; including a minimum of (1) year experience in the disability management field with understanding of WSIB and LTD claims in an Unionized environment.
  • Proven knowledge of disability management, theory and practice and knowledge on best practices on Return to Work programs.
  • Experience in rehabilitation on case management including implementing and monitoring modified work programs.
  • Experience in interpreting information regarding medical restrictions and ensuring confidentiality with the ability to communicate this information, within legal bounds, in order that appropriate administrative decisions can be reached.
  • Knowledge of pertinent legislation (e.g., Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, Health Disciplines Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act) with the ability to communicate its significance and relevancy to each situation.
  • Valid Ontario class "G" driver's license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
