Purpose of Job:


Responsibilities:


  • Assist Senior Manager and/or independently validate and/or review a range of model types.
  • Review documentation relating to the development and validation of models and processes, and provide recommendations for enhancement.
  • Analyze and present alternatives to the existing model validation techniques.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and industry developments with respect to model validation.
  • Provide reports for the summary of findings and recommendation to Senior Manager

Job Requirements:


  • Advanced degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Econometrics, Physics, Computer Science, Financial Mathematics, Financial Engineering (Master and above, Ph.
D.preferred), in combination with business education.


  • Industry certification or credentials will be asset (e.g. MBA, CFA, FRM)
  • Strong knowledge in statistics/probability/applied math.
  • Proficiency in computing skills, at least in one of the statistical, numerical, computing packages (SAS/MATLAB/R/Python).
  • Ability to effectively utilize relational databases for data analysis, write complex SQL queries is an asset.
  • Knowledge of data extraction and manipulation techniques is an asset.
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience in Risk Management or related business line experience preferred.
  • Exposure or experience in other risk functions such as IFRS9 loss provisioning modelling, asset/liability management, economic forecasting models, stress testing is desirable.
  • Sound understanding of various modelling techniques and comfortable to conduct various tests.
  • Excellent written and presentation skills to provide advice and explanation to various users of the internal risk rating system.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently or in teams.
  • Good team player with consensus-building ability.
