(TGI) is seeking a
Project Controller to join the Administration Finance & Control Department to assume the role of managing the financial aspects of projects for Tenova Goodfellow Inc.


TGI is part of a global organization that supplies advanced technologies, products, and services to the metal and mining industries.

As a world leader in providing advanced process control technologies, TGI focuses on improving energy efficiency in combustion intensive processes by using its proprietary extractive & optical sensor technology developed in co-operation with its strategic partners.

Being the project Business Partner while supporting Project Team envisaging and promptly suggesting corrective and improving action. Provide reliable and timely Tenova reporting.


Contribute to company's financial controlling by preparing reports and controlling activities for data analysis as per group standards and ensuring they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practices.


Support in the monthly management reporting process, the quarterly forecasting process, the annual IFRS group reporting process and the annual financial year reporting process.


The key responsibilities for the Project Controller include:

  • Monitor and control of contracts from Order Set-Up and Budget inception, Project review with PM's & Finance Manager, Revenue Recognition, Backlog, A/R Invoice Preparation & Final P/L review
  • Control Project Schedules, properly reporting deviations from plan
  • Guarantee and monitor the proper allocation of cost in the project network. Instruct and control that Engineering, AP and other departments are following properly the cost accrual process
  • Manage the billing summaries for projects and coordinate with Accounts Receivables that the invoices are issue in line with the commercial conditions of contracts and collected in time
  • Support the Internal Order Release process from the Control point of view
  • Coordinate with Project Manager and Budgeting Department to ensure that the Budget split is the adequate and that the control model follow up the same structure.
  • Review & Close out Projects on a timely basis
  • Keep and report standards productivities and costs from previous projects and other sources of information to benchmark budgeting and progress of projects
  • Timesheet review and posting
  • Ensure all subledger and balance sheet reconciliations are complete and correct
  • Perform data analysis and forecasts of costs centers and internal projects
  • Assist with any issues that arise with the ERP systems
  • Assist with annual financial audit
  • Ad Hoc analysis and reporting as required by management
  • Occasional additional work within the department or for other departments may also be required, as needed.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related field
  • 35 years of proven experience as a Project Controller or similar role
  • Ability to prepare detailed reports and manage the most effective techniques and tools in report drafting
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques to analyze current and future financial situations identifying trends and problems (actual vs. Budget analysis, variance analysis, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basics and/or advanced accounting principles, ASPE and IFRS. Knowledge of accounting activities such as cash operations, personnel costs, site account reports, local petty cash management
  • Knowledge of the administrative procedures to manage the accounts payable and receivable
  • Knowledge of Canadian fiscal and tax issues of company activities and projects and ability to prepare a balance sheet, its components (Profit and Loss Account and Financial Statement) and purposes in compliance with regulations and laws in force
  • Knowledge of financial risk management techniques such as using financial instruments to manage exposure to risk, particularly credit risk and market risk
  • Knowledge of industry accounting practices (industries such as engineering, manufacturing, consulting)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software tools (especially Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in SAP or similar ERP system
  • Ability to plan and manage multiple tasks/projects
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside of the organization
