Role:


Under the direction of the HSE Department, and working directly with the Operations team, The HSE Representative ensures that operational activities are conducted in a manner that is safe and in compliance with company and regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

This position requires travel to Aureus' field operations within the Grande Prairie Region.

Job Duties

  • A focus on Safe Operating Procedures (SOP), Job Safety Analysis (JSA
  • Promote a culture of personal responsibility and commitment toward the environment, safety and health
  • Ensure the safety management system is implemented and functioning within the designated region
  • Participate with operations safety meetings, prejob planning meetings, client review meetings, and safety training
  • Support the Operations team with incident reporting and investigations, identifying root cause and corrective/preventative actions
  • Promote the awareness of hazard identification, elimination and control
  • Ensure the all elements of Aureus' HSE process and programs are met to maintain regulatory compliance and incidents/injury free workplace
  • Remain current and knowledgeable of OH&S legislation, industry best practices, and other Health & Safety Regulations
  • Other duties as required

Job Requirements:

Experience & Training

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certificate/Diploma of Occupational Health and Safety (preferred)
  • 36 years industry experience
  • Must possess a clean driver's abstract
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Extensive incident investigation training and experience (SCAT/Root Cause Analysis) is considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of OH&S, AER, WCB Regulations, and IRP's
  • Current safety tickets (First Aid, H2S & CSO)
Physical Requirements

  • Must be physically fit and able to pass our preemployment screening
  • Physical requirements include bending, safely lifting up to 20 kgs, working in a noisy and sometimes dusty environment
  • Able to climb ladders and stairs and work at heights
  • Willing to work outdoors and in inclement weather, as well in office
Skills & Expectations

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a fulltime basis for anyone other than your current employer
  • Must be a driven and motivated individual able to lead by example
  • Must present oneself in a professional manner
  • Travel to remote regions on winter roads with potential to work alone
  • Must be willing to be on call on rotating weekends with the potential to be called out to remote locations on winter roads
  • Ability to work unconventional hours on occasion, as required
  • Ability to do night site visits, at least 5/per work shift, to catch the night crew operations.
  • Respond calmly to emergency and/or critical situations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to source information and provide competent advice
  • Ability to manage conflict and changing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Willing to work nights, weekends, holidays
  • Willing to comply with all safety policies and procedures
  • Willing to comply with Aureus' drug & alcoholfree and harassmentfree work environment
  • Willing to work in a diverse and teamoriented environment
