They are now currently looking to add a talented and eager Indigenous Law Associate to their expanding practice group.     ABOUT OUR CLIENT

    With over 100 years of successfully providing legal services, this full-service law firm has been growing and expanding throughout Western Canada and is now well positioned as one of the largest National Firms in the country. Their latest office is in downtown Vancouver, but due to their quality of work, client connections, and their stellar office working culture it has already grown to a comparable size of their other offices.

    ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

    Working with clients both here in BC as well as neighbouring Alberta, this position would have an intermediate – senior Associate focusing their practice on Indigenous Law matters. Alongside members of the team here in BC as well as the Alberta teams, approximately 50% of the practice would be engagement on behalf of Indigenous clients in federal and provincial regulatory processes relating to energy projects and environmental legislation. The other half would involve treaty right claims, commercial law to assist economic development, general land management, labor & employment matters, and more.

    This firm 100% represents First Nations, Métis and Inuit Governments and governments. There would be excellent mentorship opportunities as the incoming lawyer would be working closely with the Partner of the practice group. The incoming lawyer would also have opportunities to meet these clients in-person and can expect to travel between provinces 1 – 2 a month.

    THE REQUIREMENTS

    • Called to the BC Bar and member in good standing of Law Society of BC
    • 2 – 6+ years of experience with Indigenous Law
    • Comfortable with an annual billable target of 1600
    • Excellent verbal and written communicative ability, and possess a team player attitude
    • Open to travel between provinces 1 – 2 times a month to see clients
