Responsibilities:


The Research Methods Unit in Halifax Nova Scotia is a core research unit designed to support clinical and health research throughout the Nova Scotia Health Authority, the IWK Health Centre, and Dalhousie University's Faculties of Medicine, Health Professions and Dentistry.

The Research Methods Unit is recruiting a Health Economist.

Reporting to the Manager, Research Methods Unit (RMU), and collaborating with other consultants within the RMU and partner clinical and health researchers, the Health Economist provides health economics consulting support related to the design and implementation of economic evaluations of health care interventions across a range of research areas.


Qualifications:

We would love to hear from if you have the following:

  • Master's degree in Health Economics or a related quantitative area required
  • Strong quantitative skills, including training in econometrics or statistics, with a demonstrated understanding of treatment effect analysis, is an asset
  • 2 years of demonstrated research activity and proficiency in presentations and/or publications
  • Demonstrated experience or training in economic evaluations, including costeffectiveness and costutility analyses using decision analytic modelling is an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), is an asset
  • Knowledge of statistical software such as R, and Stata
  • Ability to work in a resultsoriented clinical and health research methods service environment with direction, as a team member, and independently
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines and within budget
  • Excellent communication skills, including advanced written and spoken English skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate economic methods and results to clinical and health researchers who may have limited knowledge of economic methods
  • Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field
  • Works under mínimal supervision, exercising independent judgment/creativity and latitude
  • Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to Human Resources before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment.

Hours of Work:

Permanent, Full-Time position; 75 hours bi-weekly


Salary Information:

$ $50.34 hourly
($78, $98,160.47 annual salary)
