Dan's Legacy is currently seeking a full-time, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive Therapist to work with youth at risk, ages 15 to 25 years old, in Metro Vancouver.

Our Counselling Team is made up of diverse, transparent, and welcoming Registered Clinical Counsellors.

We continually strive to create safe spaces, team-building events, and training opportunities to ensure staff have all the tools and support they need to help them thrive in their important line of work.

This position reports directly to the Program Manager for Counselling.


Position Summary:

Dan's Legacy is currently seeking a full-time, trauma-informed, and culturally sensitive Therapist to work with youth at risk, ages 15 to 25 years old, in Metro Vancouver.

Some family counselling expected. We are looking for a highly experienced professional who has extensive knowledge of working with this cohort.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • The position includes outreach work involving personal visits with the clients; having access to a dependable vehicle is an asset
  • Provides therapy for youth at risk, ages 15 to 25 years old
  • Job tasks may involve providing inperson and/or online support and services from an approved offsite/remote location
  • Works with the client as needed to obtain the desired social and emotional wellbeing and recovery through management of the issues that are caused by trauma
  • Incorporates traumainformed care philosophy, practices, and strategies in all activities
  • Employs strategies of intervention that are consistent with empirically supported treatments, are consistent with program expectations, and are culturally appropriate
  • Completes data collection, data entry and required reports and other related administrative paperwork in accordance with program timelines and standards
  • Maintains productivity expectations, which may change based on the goals of the agency
  • Effectively coordinates client care with other service providers and community resources to assure continuity of care
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Requirements:


  • Must be double vaccinated against COVID1
  • A successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check will be required prior to the start of employment
  • Must be currently licensed and certified with a Master's degree in either Psychology or Social Work
  • Ability to travel to different locations throughout Metro Vancouver

Desired Skills and Experience:


  • 1+ years direct clinical service with youth at risk
  • Experience leveraging existing community supports is an asset

About Dan's Legacy
Dan's Legacy provides trauma-informed and culturally sensitive counselling and life-skills programs to youth at risk in Metro Vancouver. These young people, aged 15 to 25, are at significant risk of overdose, self-harm, homelessness, and suicide.

Dan's Legacy's therapy and outreach teams go directly to the youth wherever they are, there are no wait lists, and all the organisation's services are free.

In the past year, Dan's Legacy helped over 400 youth stabilise their mental health, and begin working towards their educational, employment and recovery goals.


Counselling Program Description


Dan's Legacy's counselling programs are designed to meet the specific needs of this highly vulnerable group, with holistic therapy based on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness principles, balanced with proper diet and exercise.

When these youth cannot access counselling and life-skills support, they are at risk of developing serious and life-long mental health issues, chronic unemployment, homelessness, addiction, and death by suicide.

Salary:
$72,000.00 per year
