WHAT'S THE TEAM LIKE

The Facilities team at Calgary Airports supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the airport's electrical systems across terminals, airfield facilities, and support buildings. Their work matters because lighting, power distribution, life safety systems, and equipment all need to function seamlessly in a 24/7 environment. The team works closely with technicians, maintenance staff, and other Infrastructure groups to ensure electrical systems are properly maintained and documented. As a student, you'll be welcomed into a supportive, hands-on environment where you can learn how electrical systems are managed in a large, complex facility.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES

Auditing and updating panel schedules to ensure electrical documentation remains accurate and current.
Validating as-built drawings by comparing documentation to actual site conditions.
Supporting coordinators with site investigations, electrical shutdowns, and permit request activities.
Updating electrical asset inventories to maintain accurate records for maintenance and planning.
Cleaning up and organizing digital documentation libraries to improve accessibility and version control.
Assisting with updates to digital twins, ensuring electrical system models reflect real-world conditions.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

We welcome applications from students who meet one of the following criteria: You must be enrolled in a post‑secondary diploma or bachelor's program in Electrical Technology, Electrical Trades Preparation, Engineering Technology or a related field and
(a) be registered in a co‑op work term that aligns with the term of this role, or
(b) be enrolled in a program where a work term is required to graduate.
In either case, you must be able to provide documentation and confirm that you will be returning to school after the work term is completed.
You'll need to be eligible to obtain and maintain a RAIC, don't worry – we'll help you through this For more details, check out: RAIC Program and Application Information.
Coursework or practical exposure to basic electrical systems or building systems.
Ability to work onsite and follow electrical and facility safety procedures.

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET

Bilingual in English and French
Experience working with technical drawings, diagrams, or equipment labels through school labs or projects.
