Bantrel Infrastructure will work in a Delivery Partner role within an integrated team with the customer organization for a Subway Project in Toronto, Ontario.

The project scope includes the design build, operations and maintenance of all infrastructure and rail systems associated with 15 stations and over 15km of new alignment, being performed by three key PPP Contractors and five advanced early works (EAW) packages Contractors.

Bechtel form the key component of the overall leadership team, having delivery partner responsibilities supported by two other components, Technical Advisor (TA) and Program Controls Services Consultant (PCSC).

Job Description:


The Exhibition Station Field Specialist - Civil & Architecture is responsible for overseeing the construction of civil and architectural elements of Exhibition Station.


Exhibition Station is to be constructed within the footprint of the existing live Exhibition Station which is operated by GO-Transit.

Therefore, the works must be carried out in strict compliance with rail safety, asset protection and passenger comfort standards as described by local rail regulations.


Exhibition Station and the surrounding area is important to many stakeholders including the rail operator, passengers, local community and businesses.

The nearby Exhibition Place is Canada's largest entertainment and business events venue, attracting over 5.5 million visitors per year. These stakeholders need care, consideration and communications.


The South Civil contract is for the construction of 7km of twin-bored tunnels running east-west under downtown Toronto, one surface station (Exhibition) and six underground stations.

The Exhibition Station Field Specialist - Civil & Architecture reports to the Project Manager for Exhibition Station.


The Work

  • Overseeing the Project Company (PCo) civil and architectural works at Exhibition Station, being the DP representative on site.
  • Maintaining high quality daily records of observations and other information gathered including site personnel, materials, equipment, work completed (installed quantities) and issues arising.
  • Reviewing deliverables and other submittals prepared by PCo related to construction or construction support for Exhibition Station. Identifying nonconformances or other items that require addressing to benefit the project. Specific focus on Inspection and Test Plans (IPTs).
  • Overseeing that the PCo works at Exhibition Station are in accordance with the contract in terms of health, safety, environment, quality, schedule and cost performance. Identifying and reporting any nonconformances. Specific focus on witness and hold points identified in ITPs.
  • Reporting progress, identifying risks, highlighting emerging issues and escalating to the Project Manager for Exhibition Station.
  • Providing input to and participating in plans and actions to address nonconformances, avoid or mitigate risks and mitigate emerging issues.
  • Building relationships with the PCo site team.
  • Validating progress reports and other data prepared by the DP and PCo against own observations and records.
  • Providing input to the DP progress reports for Exhibition Station.

The Desired Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Relevant bachelor's degree from an accredited university

Relevant experience guideline:
5-years.

  • Previously held construction supervision role(s) with responsibility for construction of infrastructure of similar scope, size and complexity to a station on a metro project.
  • Experience of working on infrastructure megaprojects, preferably rail projects in urban areas.
  • Experience of overseeing construction of infrastructure in the vicinity of operational rail lines. Including working knowledge of track closures processes and logistic challenges to working during track closures / possessions.
  • Good relationship building and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Fluent in using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
  • Demonstrated commitment to Z
