    Job Overview

    This is a one year internship funded by the NOHFC workforce development program. The Collections Assistant will work closely with the Collections Supervisor to complete several ongoing cataloguing and inventory projects.

    This position is full time, with a variable schedule.

    Duties

    • Conducting a physical inventory of archival material; scanning, labeling and recording locations of documents,
    • Cataloguing Archival material into Collections database, and assisting with data transfer from an old system,
    • Creating a physical space for the archival collection within the collections room,
    • Dealing with found in Collection/No Number archival material,
    • Creating list of archival material for Board of Directors to determine if material should be accessioned/deaccessioned,
    • Removing archival material from photograph storage and adding to archival collection,
    • Working with the Archivist to determine if material should be included in research library and,
    • Assist with re-cataloguing and filing of archival items moving into he research library.

    Qualifications

    • Proven experience in administrative roles with strong organizational skills.
    • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in supervising teams or volunteers.
    • Excellent public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
    • Strong marketing skills to promote programs effectively within the community.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
    • A passion for community service and a commitment to making a positive impact.

    Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
    Contract length: 12 months

    Pay: $34,580.00 per year
