The Hilton Toronto is looking for an Assistant Banquet Manager to join their team In this role you will assist in the planning, organization and execution of all banquet functions in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Appointed in downtown Toronto, this property boasts 3,300+ sq. m. of event space and 600 guest rooms, with plated meals for up to 700 guests

What will I be doing?


As an Assistant Banquet Manager, you would be responsible for assisting in the planning, organization and execution of all banquet functions in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability.

Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:


  • Assist in the management of all Banquet operations to include, but not limited to, guest service standards and initiatives, product quality, cost controls and overall profitability, marketing initiatives, systems use and management, budgeting and forecasting, department management, policy and procedure implementation and enforcement and meeting participation and facilitation
  • Supervises food and beverage set up and clean up
  • Assist in planning, organizing and executing all banquet functions including, but not limited to, breakfast, coffee breaks, luncheons, dinners, cocktail receptions, galas, etc.
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing and training team members
  • Greets clients and responds to guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a training plan to ensure a high quality presentation and level of customer service within the banquet service/function service staffs.
  • Manage, in conjunction with the Executive Chef, the inventory, control and breakage/loss reduction of china, glass and silver as it relates to function services and banquet services.
  • Give daily support and guidance to fellow banquet personnel as well as monitor job performance to ensure a successful meeting/banquet experience by our guests.
  • Maintain a high level of service by constantly training and coaching all direct reports and staff.
  • Assist with annual and midyear appraisals with team members under your responsibility
  • Assist in setting departmental targets and objectives, work schedules, budgets, and policies and procedures
  • Inspect and oversee the cleanliness and maintenance of all function space, public areas, and service areas on all banquet levels. Coordinate with Housekeeping and Engineering to ensure the highest level of product delivery.
  • Incentivize team members to maximize sales and revenue
  • Comply with hotel security, fire regulations and all health and safety legislation
  • Assist other departments wherever necessary and maintain good working relationships
