Our team:


The Physician and Provider Services Division (PPSD)is accountable for policy development, negotiations, and mediation or arbitration where applicable and the implementation of agreements between government and certain health care provider associations. The division recently modernized its organizational structure to better align with their business objectives.


The Provider Negotiations Management Branch is a new branch, created to lead the negotiations process for the ministry with health care providers including the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), the Association of Ontario Midwives, the Ontario Association of Optometrists, and the Ontario Dental Association.

What can I expect to do in this role?: You'll lead the

Negotiations Strategy and Policy Unit, a new team of 7 staff leading negotiations, planning with partners across the division, ministry and Ontario Public Service.


In this role, you will:

  • Lead and facilitate negotiations between various associations across the province and work with external stakeholders on policy and program issues informing future negotiations;
  • Manage, motivate and mentor a team of experienced strategic policy staff, while supporting and promoting a productive, diverse and inclusive work environment;
  • Provide strategic leadership expertise for the management of negotiations and, ongoing monitoring of labour markets;
  • Oversee partnership and consensus building with stakeholders to develop, promote and deliver negotiation strategies that support ministry goals; and
  • Provide professional direction and advice on issues impacting negotiations, agreements, policy and programs to senior management staff.


This role may offer a hybrid work schedule (up to two (2) days of remote work per week) and may require working non-traditional business hours during negotiation periods.

Leadership and Management Skills:


  • You have inclusive leadership skills to lead, mentor and motivate a high performing team to achieve high quality and timely results;
  • You have experience establishing strategic objectives and work plans to meet current and future priorities;
  • You have successfully led and delivered change initiatives amongst evolving priorities; and
  • You have experience with operational management, including financial planning, budgeting as well as managing workload and human resources.
