Job Summary:

Under moderate supervision of the Group Supervisor or Senior Chemist, performs analyses in the laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing test solutions, compounds, and reagents for conducting tests and advising and coordinating test procedures.
Determining chemical and physical properties, compositions, structures, relationships, and reactions of organic and inorganic compounds.
Using chromatography, spectroscopy, and spectrophotometry techniques.
Performs procedures in the laboratory on various sample types and matrices using standard chemical techniques and instrumentation.
Familiar with laboratory equipment and instrument operations.
Able to work independently with moderate supervision.
Capable of learning new methods and procedures quickly.
Performs both simple and complex calculations to determine results.
Uses computerized equipment routinely.
Utilizes scientific methods to document analytical work.
Ensures compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
Processes hazardous materials as required.

Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.
Academic background in analytical chemistry and oneyear laboratory experience with an emphasis on qualitative and quantitative analysis is desired.
