We are currently seeking a Campus Safety Officer to join our team who shares out commitment to quality education, student success, and safety.


Reporting to the Campus Safety Coordinator, the Campus Safety Officer position is responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of the department through maintaining a safe environment for everyone on campus by ensuring the physical security along with the environmental and occupational safety of all people and assets of the campus.


Job Requirement:
On-Campus, In-Person; _this is not a remote position with the ability to travel between campuses to support the needs of business operations_


Core Duties / Responsibilities:


  • Provide support to the Campus Safety Coordinator with overseeing the security company staff, including management of schedules, vendor collaboration, onsite training, acknowledgements and incident management
  • Ensure the safety and physical security of all operations, persons, buildings and assets of the Institution through a variety of security techniques and methods
  • Under the direction of the Campus Safety Coordinator, Prepare, enter and/or review a variety of information into applicable documents, security logs, spreadsheets, databases, and/or other related areas under the established guidelines and procedures to ensure accuracy.
  • Report any inconsistencies to Campus Safety Coordinator, to ensure compliance with SCC, OHSA, and government legislation relating to safety measures on campus.
  • Assist the Campus Safety Coordinator in operational procedures such as campus walkthroughs, inspections, safety reviews and JHSC meetings as required
  • Assist with coordination of yearly CPR certification sessions for staff members
  • Support the implementation of the safe walk program through conducting volunteer interviews, administering training coordination of schedules and communication for program.
  • Answer oncall inquiries during the programming hours, when on shift.
  • Prepare and assist in booths/seminars with students regarding various safety tips and to deliver classroom announcements as needed/delegated
  • Support the coordination of Annual Fire Drills and training sessions for employees
  • Emergency Response: Support with timely actions, incident documentation (including pictures, notes, and Board updates) and followup on undertaken actions.
  • Participate/ lead educational training workshops to enhance the knowledge and skills of employees (i.e., / WSPS Safety Connections).
  • Be highly visible, interactive and available to all persons on an assigned campus in order to answer inquiries, offer referrals, assistance and respond to all emergency situations to provide initial support and direction as needed.

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:


  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree in a related field; higher degrees in appropriate fields related to our programs are considered an asset
  • Minimum 2year experience working in a related position.
  • Minimum 2year experience working in a postsecondary setting, frontfacing role along with skills pertaining to International Students is an asset
  • Must possess CPR/First Aid Certificate
  • Must possess Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Certificate
  • Skills and experience working with a multicultural clientele
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, behavior management skills and collaborative ability to liaise with all stakeholders
  • Ability to inherently demonstrate an understanding of confidentiality, a high level of integrity and be trustworthy
  • Excellent verbal and written skills to be expressed across all communication channels
  • Excellent risk assessment skills are required in order to be able to interpret and/or be analytical of various situations
